Board of Directors

Karen Grove Beaman is one of the co-Directors of the online Master's Program in Trauma-Informed Education at Columbia College (www.columbiasc.edu/tie). She was a classroom teacher, technology specialist, assistant principal and principal in Richland Two for over 28 years. She has a Master's and Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. After retirement, she joined Columbia College as the Program Director of the Master's in Educational Administration and Leadership to begin the first certifying Master's program in Education at Columbia College. While at Columbia College, she was approached to join the leadership of a new Master's degree in Trauma-Informed Education.  Personally, and as a school leader, she knows the importance of educating our families, school and community in trauma-informed practices. Karen lives in Irmo with Lucy, her four-legged child, and has 2 grown children who live in Columbia.
