Kandice Hunt

Kandice Hunt is a triple-certified teacher, certified administrator, TBRI® Practitioner, and TBRI® Mentor based in Lexington, South Carolina. She holds certifications in Deaf Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education, and Educational Leadership. Kandice earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education of the Deaf from Converse University and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. In August 2026, she began studies in the Master of Science program in Developmental Trauma at Texas Christian University and is expected to graduate in August 2028.

Before her work with Flourishing Families of South Carolina, Kandice spent 15 years in schools working in Deaf Education, with experience in itinerant, inclusion, and classroom-based models. She also supported professionals and administrators within Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs through coaching, consultation, and training across South Carolina. Her background in education, accessibility, language development, and family systems now informs her work supporting organizations, schools, and families as they implement trauma-informed, attachment-based practices.

Kandice’s passion for this work is both professional and personal. As a mother to biological and adopted children with disabilities and support needs, including ADHD, PTSD, autism, and learning disabilities, she discovered Trust-Based Relational Intervention® through Flourishing Families of South Carolina after navigating parenting challenges related to developmental trauma. TBRI® transformed her parenting and teaching practices, deepening her commitment to trauma-informed, attachment-based care.

Kandice has presented at state, regional, and national conferences on topics related to Deaf Education, language access, and trauma-informed, attachment-based care. Outside of her professional work, Kandice enjoys spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, and cross-stitching.
